Hampstead Heath (10 min walk)

One of London's best loved open spaces, covering 320 hectares, the Heath's remarkable range of habitats are only 10 min away from the Best Western Palm Hotel. Take a walk up to Parliament Hill for impressive panoramic views of London's skyline. Famous landmarks such as the banking towers of Canary Wharf to St Paul's Cathedral can be seen from this point, 98m above London.

Golders Hill Park and Zoo (10 min walk)

Another of London's spectacular parks, opened to the public in 1898. Golders Hill Park is immaculately charming, containing beautiful plant displays, a free zoo, a butterfly house, water gardens, as well as housing a popular cafe, tennis courts, croquet lawn, golf practice nets and children's playground, All this only a 10 minute walk from the Best Western Palm Hotel.

The Regent's Park with Primrose Hill (only 20 min away by bus)

The Regent’s Park, 166 hectares (410 acres), was designed in 1811 by renowned architect John Nash and includes stunning rose gardens. The Park is the largest outdoor sports area in London catering for football, softball and rugby, and a cricket pitch. There are wild bird species and waterfowl. The Park hosts London Zoo, the Open Air Theatre (performances end May to early September), bandstands and a boating lake. There are cafés include The Garden Café, The Honest Sausage, The Boathouse Café, and the Tennis Centre Café. The view from the top of Primrose Hill is one of London’s best, affording a fantastic panoramaacross the city. There is a playground, sports facilities and public toilets with disabled access.

Brent Cross Shopping Centre

One of the biggest shopping centres (5 min away) in UK with 110 stores and small cosy coffee shops. Its currently offers 8,000 free car-parking spaces.

The Freud Museum

The Hampstead home of Sigmund Freud and his family when they escaped Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938. Freud's study with the infamous psychoanalytic couch, on which all of Freud's patients reclined, is the centrepiece of the museum.  Open Wednesday to Sunday between 12pm (noon) - 5pm.

Camden Lock (25 min away by bus & underground)

One of London’s most vibrant shopping and entertainment areas. Live music and comedy venues, café’s and bars it’s a brilliant place to meet up with some of the city’s most creative people. The Lock is the original ‘Camden Market’, opened in 1973 as a collection of artisan workshops. Clustered in and around the award-winning Market Hall, you’ll find small shops and market stalls selling everything from vintage fashion, handmade jewellery and beautiful homewares sourced from around the globe. It’s also a great place to spot new young designers. Delicious food; from stacks of vegetarian goodies to hearty steaks and the waft of heady spices, there's a global kitchen on offer. You can arrive by Waterbus on the canal from Maida Vale or London Zoo right into the heart of the market. Open seven days a week, (just closed on Christmas Day), and close to the Eurostar terminal at Kings Cross, the nearest tube stations are Camden Town and Chalk Farm (on the Northern Line).

The Sherlock Holmes Museum (20 min away by bus)

England's most famous detective, Sherlock Holmes, and Dr John H Watson lived at 221b Baker Street between 1881-1904 according to writer Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. If you are a fan of the novels, then head down to see Sherlock's study, impeccably maintained from Victorian Times. Open every day (except Christmas) from 9.30am - 6.00pm.

Madame Tussauds (20 min away by bus)

The unique wax museum located in central London area - Baker Street, which was opened in 1835 by famous wax sculptor Marie Tussaud. Madame Tussauds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying waxworks of historical and royal figures, film stars, sports stars and famous murderers.
