Christmas in London traditionally involves lights, carolling, ice skating, shopping, and the famous pantomimes. But what about enjoying something different this Festive Season – something unique and even quirky?
When you set out from the hotels in North London, there is a world of attractions to discover at Christmas – and here are some of the more unusual things to do…
Hyper Japan Christmas Market – Nov 27-29
Head to the Tobacco Dock at Wapping from November 27th-29th for the best of all things Japanese in a Christmas Market – including music, Kawaii, anime, manga, and cosplay. Stalls have fashion, Japanese-inspired wrapping papers, edible gifts, toys, and traditional crockery. This is the place to find Sake, Japanese tea, chocolate, and much more. There are also cooking demonstrations, the Sake Cocktail Awards, and the 2015 Sushi Awards.
Hot Tub Cinema – Nov 27-Dec 14
Hop on Northern line from Golders Green Tube Station near Palm Hotel, your 4-star Best Western Hotels London.
This pop-up attraction at Factory 7 in Shoreditch is great fun for the grownups. It combines an evening spent in deliciously toasty hot tubs with nostalgic films on the big screen – including old favourites Love Actually, The Goonies, and Pretty Woman. Operating between November 27th and December 14th, there will also be Hot Tub Speed Dating and Hot Tub Karaoke.
Olympia, The London International Horse Show – Dec 15-21
This, the annual horse’s Christmas Party, celebrates its 108th year in 2015, and acclaimed riders, Olympic Equestrian Gold Medallists, and horse enthusiasts will come from all over the world to Olympia London at Brook Green for displays, competitions, a shopping village, and entertainment garnered to the Season. Included attractions are the Shetland Pony Grand National, performances by The Household Cavalry Musical Ride, and the Dog Kennel Club Agility Trials. This is an event that will appeal for all ages.
Santa and His Huskies – December 7-8
Littles will love this event at the London Wetland Centre. They can take a sleigh ride, snuggle with gorgeous huskies, and meet Santa in the Christmas Grotto in the Northern Pine Forest. Hot chocolate, mince pies, and mulled cider are a warming treat.
Bump Roller Disco – Nov 20, 2015 – January 17, 2016
Part of the Southbank Centre Winter Festival, Bump is a wooden-floored roller-disco located underneath the Hungerford Bridge. Rollerskates are included in the ticket price, and children aged less than twelve years must have adult accompaniment. There will be club nights on Fridays and Saturdays for adults only. Great for both participants and spectators.
